A major factor after flooding or earthquakes is various contaminents being deposited on your land, or it may just be that the only relocatable land suitable for growing food is on an old landfill, either waym this may be worth figuring out how to do.

The traditional method is to use earthworking machinery to either bury the topsoil in a tampered clay pit, then use more tampered clay to create a dome over it. However the toxic material simply remain in status until the toxins either leach out or the lid is breached, it's more like sweeping dust under the carpet than an actual repair.

I've been doing a bit of research on what toxins assorted plants will take up out of the soil, and found a remarkable range:
Best Plants For The Job
- Cabbage and other crucifers — Heavy metals like lead

- Indian Mustard Greens — Heavy metals like lead, Arsenic, radiation

- Alpine Pennycress — Heavy metals like lead

- Geranium — Heavy metals like lead

- Sunflowers — Heavy metals like lead, radiation

- Dandelions — Heavy metals like lead

- Pigweeds—Radiation

- Alfalfa—Benzene, petroleum

- Ferns—Arsenic

- Clover—Petroleum

After one to two full seasons of these plants, continue to test your soil to make sure toxins have been removed before letting the little ones dig in. And most importantly, make sure not to throw the discarded plants into the garbage where they end up leaching chemicals back into the soil through landfills. You need to treat these plants as toxic waste and dispose of them through your local government's hazardous waste program.
